What is Social Work?

Social work focuses on all individuals, families and groups in society. Social service; To enable disadvantaged groups in the society to live like other individuals in the society despite their obstacles, to ensure that individuals and groups who are disadvantaged in the society, by making use of public resources in all circumstances, to improve themselves, to stand on their own feet, to integrate with the society, to gain freedom, to gain social functionality, to protect their well-being, to meet their needs, to meet their social needs. It is a professional and academic discipline that aims at welfare and social justice. It has unique intervention methods, principles and techniques. There are three basic levels of practice in social work as micro, mezzo and macro. It considers the individual as a bio-psycho-social and spiritual being. Its main purpose is to improve the social conditions and to protect the well-being of the individual.

  • To ensure the welfare of the society,

  • To protect the well-being of individuals,

  • To ensure the acquisition of social functionality,

  • To increase people's problem solving capacity,
